Man and woman killed, 5-year-old seriously hurt in Montclair crash; Garden Grove man suspected

A man and a woman died and a 5-year-old boy was seriously injured in a Saturday night crash at a Montclair intersection between the sedan they were riding in and an SUV, police said.

The woman, 65, and the man, 67, died at the scene. The boy and the driver of the SUV each had serious injuries after the 10:33 p.m. crash at Howard Street and Ransom Avenue, where the city’s police and fire departments responded, a release from the police said.

None of those involved were identified, pending notification of relatives. The hometowns of the man and woman who died, and of the boy who was injured,  were not available.

Police said the driver of the SUV, a 32-year-old man from Garden Grove, was  a “suspect” in the crash, but the hospitalized man had not been arrested as of Sunday morning. “Impairment may have been a factor in the collision, however the primary cause is still under investigation,” the department said.
