Two people were killed and four others were injured Friday night, Jan. 24, in a multi-vehicle crash in Canyon Lake.
The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred on Railroad Canyon Road west of Goetz Road about 9:54 p.m., said the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in a Saturday news release.
A vehicle traveling east on Railroad Canyon Road rear-ended a second vehicle traveling in the same direction, the Sheriff’s Department said.
One of those two vehicles then crossed over the center divider, slamming head-on into a third vehicle traveling west on Railroad Canyon.
Two people in the third vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Four others were injured in the crash, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. Two of the four had to be freed from the wrecked vehicles. The four patients suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital, the department said.
All lanes of the road were temporarily blocked.
Information on the age, gender and names of those killed was not immediately disclosed.
