A 54-year-old San Bernardino woman died after she was struck by a public transportation bus in the city on Friday evening, authorities said.
The driver of an OmniTrans sbX bus traveling north on E Street near Fairway Drive at 5:56 p.m. saw the woman walking in the bus lane and tried to avoid hitting her, said the San Bernardino Police Department in a Saturday news release.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office identified the woman Sunday as Diana Tonche.
The driver was not able to avoid Tonche and the bus struck her, police said. Paramedics transported here to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Neither the driver of the bus nor any passengers were injured in the crash.
The driver of the bus did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The incident was under investigation.
