A driver died in Pomona Thursday morning after his car crashed into a commercial flatbed truck that was parked on the side of the road.
Officers responded to the area of Pomona Boulevard and Pacific Street around 10:30 a.m. and found the driver, the only one in his car, in grave condition.
The man was transported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department to a local trauma center, where he died of his injuries. Police said they did not find any witnesses to the crash.
The man apparently was driving west on Pomona Boulevard when he lost control of his car, which crossed into the eastbound lanes of the same road and crashed into the flatbed truck, police said.
The speed the car was traveling was not immediately available. Police said alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash.
The man’s identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
Pomona police ask anyone with information to call 909-802-7741 or 909-620-2048.
