Driver dies when SUV leaves freeway transition road in Redlands

A driver died early Sunday when an SUV that was reported as speeding left a connector road between the eastbound 10 Freeway and westbound 210 Freeway in Redlands, California Highway Patrol logs said.

The crash was reported shortly after 3 a.m. with the wrecked SUV found on the ground beneath the road. Witnesses said the SUV left the elevated roadway at its highest point, according to the CHP log.

No one else was involved, according to early reports. The identity of the driver was not immediately available, and the San Bernardino County Coroner was called to the scene.

The crash was under investigation.
