A crash between a car and a Jeep in San Bernardino on Monday morning left one man dead and another arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened at around 7:35 a.m. when Jeffrey Ornelas Jr., a 30-year-old man from Colton, was driving his Jeep Wrangler at around 55 miles per hour in the middle-right lane of the 10 Freeway, just west of Mount Vernon Avenue.
Ornelas Jr. crashed into the back of a Saturn Ion, which was stopped in the same lane, officials said.
Authorities said the Jeep overturned. The driver of the Saturn, a 62-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity had not been made public as of Tuesday afternoon.
Ornelas Jr. was arrested Monday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. He was released on bail on Tuesday afternoon, according to jail records.
