Car stolen on 91 Freeway in Corona as driver tries to help trucker trapped in big rig

A good Samaritan who stopped to aid a truck driver trapped in his rig on the 91 Freeway in Corona on Tuesday, July 2, suffered the indignity of his car being stolen.

The crash was reported just after 11 a.m. in the eastbound lanes at the 15 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol log said. The tractor-trailer was reported on its side in the right lane with the driver stuck inside.

Soon after, someone pulled over to help, and another motorist jumped into the good Samaritan’s driver’s seat and took off, the CHP log said. The theft victim said he did not know the car’s license plate because the car was borrowed.

The truck driver was hospitalized.
