CABAZON — One man was killed and another was injured Wednesday in a rollover crash in Cabazon.

The accident happened just before 7:30 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway, just past the Main Street exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 36-year-old San Bernardino man was driving an Isuzu box truck in the far right lane of the freeway at about 70 mph when the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and he lost control of the vehicle, which went over an embankment and struck at least two trees, CHP Officer Darren Meyer said.

The lone passenger suffered fatal injuries. The 57-year-old Yucaipa man’s name was withheld pending family notification.

The driver was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with moderate injuries, according to Meyer.

Neither the driver nor his passenger were wearing seatbelts, the officer said.

The number four lane of the freeway was closed for about four hours following the crash, Meyer said.
