One person died and one was injured early Sunday in a crash on the southbound 15 Freeway south of Dos Lagos Drive, authorities said.

One vehicle was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 4:15 a.m.  as flipped over and crashed into a tree in the center divider, according to early CHP reports.

The 15 Freeway in that stretch has a dirt divider between northbound and southbound lanes, with some trees visible on Google Maps.

Cal Fire/Riverside County, which placed the scene a bit north of the CHP location, at Cajalco Road, said two vehicles were involved, with one person dead and one with minor injuries taken to a hospital.

The later CHP called a SigAlert for the southbound 15 Freeway at the crash site. Just after 8 a.m. two lanes were open for traffic, with only the No. 1, or fast lane,  still closed.

Additional details were not immediately available.
