Driver flees after pedestrian is struck and killed on 10 Freeway in Colton

The California Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who it said hit and killed pedestrian on the 10 Freeway in Colton before driving away from the scene of the crash Saturday night.

CHP logs showed a male pedestrian was hit and died at the scene. The CHP was alerted to the incident at 10:10 p.m. A SigAlert that had closed westbound lanes east of 9th Street ended around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Officials noted in a collision report that the man was walking in the traffic lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway, just west of Mt. Vernon Avenue, when he was hit by an unknown person driving an unknown vehicle.

After the crash, the person who hit the man drove away from the scene. The person who died had not been publicly identified as of Monday afternoon.
