UC Riverside police officer injured in traffic collision

A UC Riverside police officer suffered “very minor” injuries in a traffic collision Tuesday afternoon, May 7, authorities said.

Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Thomas Jay said the officer was hospitalized in the 5:15 p.m. collision on Watkins Drive near Blaine Street. The other person involved declined to be hospitalized, Jay said.

UCR spokesman Johnny Cruz said the collision happened off campus between two vehicles.

Information on the circumstances of the crash was not immediately available.

The Riverside Police Department was investigating.
