A 19-year-old Hesperia resident suffered major injuries early Wednesday, March 13, when her car was struck by a wrong-way driver on the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino, the California Highway Patrol said.

Joseph Charles Zucker, 38, of Bakersfield, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing great bodily injury, a news release said.

The collision was reported about 1:10 a.m. south of Palm Avenue. The CHP said Zucker was driving a Ford F-350 southbound in the northbound lanes south of Palm Avenue when he hit a Toyota Scion. The Scion’s driver, whose name was not publicly released, was hospitalized.
