Yucaipa motorist dies from injuries after 4-vehicle crash in Riverside

A 65-year-old Yucaipa resident died Wednesday, March 6, after a four-vehicle collision in Riverside that shut down a major street for hours, the Riverside Police Department said.

The man had to be cut out of his vehicle. He was hospitalized in critical condition before dying.

The crash was reported at 10:55 a.m. The preliminary investigation found that a white Nissan Titan being driven by a 33-year-old Riverside resident south on Alessandro Boulevard went out of control just north of Via Vista and crossed into the northbound lanes, a news release said.

That caused the Nissan to hit the Yucaipa man’s blue Ford Ranger pickup, a gray Infiniti SUV being driven by a 35-year-old Riverside resident and a U-Haul truck towing a flatbed trailer being driven by a 65-year-old San Marcos resident.

The drivers of the Infiniti and Nissan were also hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the release said.
