Two big rigs collided on the 10 Freeway in Redlands on Tuesday, Jan. 15, causing a diesel spill that required four hours to clean up, the Redlands Fire Department said.

One person was treated for minor injuries.

The collision happened shortly after 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between Yucaipa Boulevard and Wabash Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find one truck down an embankment and heavily damaged, including a ruptured tank that spilled 25 gallons of diesel fuel into the soil.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was hospitalized.

A cleanup crew began its work about 8 a.m. and finished around noon, the Fire Department said.
