A chain reaction, multi-vehicle collision in the Cajon pass shut down northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway that were slick with ice and snow on Tuesday, Dec. 25.
A motorist called police and said a vehicle had spun out on the freeway in the area of Hesperia, blocking all lanes south of Oak Hill Road at about 6:35 a.m., according to a California Highway Patrol dispatcher. Records show that dispatchers began receiving multiple reports of traffic collisions shortly thereafter.
TV news reported a couple dozen vehicles were involved. The CHP did not immediately return an evening call seeking details.
A Toyota 4Runner reportedly slid off of the freeway and fell into the lot of the Desert Valley Towing Yard, 5900 Mariposa Road, according to CHP logs.

A Sigalert was issued, and the freeway was closed at Highway 138 at about 7:50 a.m., snarling traffic in both directions. Some drivers made U-turns and drove the wrong way to exit the freeway, according to CHP logs.
It was unclear if any injuries were reported.
All lanes were open at 9:55 a.m., according to the CHP log.
