A 19-year-old Hemet resident who authorities say was not wearing a seat belt suffered serious injuries Tuesday, Dec. 11, when she was ejected from her SUV as it rolled over and the vehicle came to rest on top of her.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 3 p.m. on Borel Road, a dirt road just east of Winchester Road in French Valley, a California Highway Patrol news release said. The motorist was driving a 2000 Toyota 4Runner west on Borel when she was unable to make a curve. The SUV struck a dirt embankment and rolled over, ejecting the driver, the CHP said.
The SUV ended up on its roof with the driver’s leg underneath it, the CHP said. Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters freed the woman, who was taken by helicopter to Inland Valley Hospital with major injuries.
