A bicyclist died in a hospital on Sunday, Nov. 11, several days after he was struck from behind by a sedan in Long Beach.
The man was biking westbound in the third lane of Spring Street on Wednesday, Nov. 7, when he was rear ended near the 605 freeway by a driver in a 2007 Honda Accord, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department. The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday.
He was identified as Bryan Lembke, 39. Police said the 53-year-old Cypress man behind the wheel of the car that struck him did not flee the scene of the collision and had cooperated with investigators.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. Long Beach Police have asked anyone with information relevant to the crash to contact Detective Sirilo Garcia at 562-570-7355. Callers can also leave anonymous tips with LA Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
