An Eastvale man died Friday morning, Nov. 2, when he ran a red light and caused a traffic collision, Riverside police and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office said.

John Kelley, 49, died at 6:51 a.m. after the 5:54 a.m. collision at the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Avenue, the coroner said.

Riverside police said a white Ford Focus was traveling south on Van Buren and ran the red light while attempting a left turn onto Jurupa. The Focus struck a silver Hyundai head-on that was traveling north on Van Buren. The Hyundai driver was hospitalized with what were described as moderate injuries.

Kelley, driving the Ford, died.

The intersection reopened about 1:15 p.m.
