Two children who authorities believe were not wearing seat belts were hospitalized with major injuries Friday, Oct. 26, when the car they were riding in rear-ended another vehicle, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

The collision happened about 8 a.m. in the area of Soquel Canyon Parkway and Mindenvale Parkway in Chino Hills.

Investigators determined that a gray Nissan Altima driven by a 37-year-old woman struck a stopped white BMW, a news release said. The collision injured the Altima driver, the 49-year-old female driver of the BMW as well as a 13-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl, all residents of Chino Hills.

The children were airlifted to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.
