Lanes re-opened after big rig crash on 210 Freeway in Irwindale forced major closures

A crash involving two big rigs on the eastbound 210 Freeway in Irwindale near Irwindale Avenue forced major lane closures Wednesday afternoon, while officials worked to clear the scene and to offer medical treatment to three people with minor injuries.  A fourth person was transported to a local hospital, officials said.

All lanes were reopened at 3:17 p.m.. the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident, involving two semi-trucks that collided, was reported to the California Highway Patrol at about 1:25 p.m.

Los Angeles County Fire officials provided medical treatment to three people with minor injuries. One person was transported to a local hospital; the condition of the patient was not immediately known.

One of the big rigs was on its side, while the second, which was carrying trash, sustained major damage to its trailer but remained upright, an online CHP incident log said.

According to the CHP log, officials plan to disconnect the demolished trailer, and a tow company will pull the truck from the scene.

The nature of the crash is still being investigated by CHP.
