Trump threw the United States under the bus: Letters

Last Updated on July 17, 2018 by CCAR Staff

America is great, and will always be great, as long as it brings down the Trumps in this world and news organizations that twist and make up their own facts (Fox News). It is one thing to make a mistake when reporting and another when you twist the facts and outright lie to try and alter public thinking.

Trump has thrown America and its democracy under the bus. If you are a Trump supporter or voted for Trump, no matter what the reason, you have taken part in throwing America under the bus. No more excuses or whining. What you’ve done is undermine our American way of life.

I can only hope that our nation is strong enough to overcome this disastrous mistake of all Trump supports and those who voted for him.

Yes, the blame all lies with you. Are you too far gone or can you reboot and become Americans again? That is the question!

CalEITC program helps

We all know how expensive it is to live where we do, with housing and health care costs on the rise. Most of our neighbors are struggling to make ends meet.

This year, over 85,000 hard-working families and individuals in San Bernardino are claiming a new tax credit called the CalEITC and will receive up to $6,000 back in their pockets.

And now, due to the leadership of Assemblywoman Eloise Gómez Reyes, the CalEITC program will cover even more people next year.

Thank you, Assemblywoman Reyes!

— Juan Andres Villa, San Bernardino

Transgender roles

Re “Johansson pulls out of film after backlash” (July 15):

According to GLAAD, only a transgender actor can play a transgender. Be careful what you wish for; there aren’t that many transgender acting parts out there. With this logic, a transgender couldn’t play a heterosexual role.

Difference of opinions

Re “Should schools use affirmative action?” (Question of the Week, July 10):

I have an opinion on this; a point of view based on personal experience, but it will not expressed for fear of attack by those with a different one. However, I should feel free to express my thoughts, and so should you. This is tragic in a free society. Time to “Make America civil again.”

— Douglas Newton, Redlands
