The westbound 10 Freeway in Fontana was backed up for several miles following a 7:44 a.m. multi-vehicle crash, the CHP reported Monday morning, July 16, snarling traffic for commuters.

Eight vehicles, including mini-vans and sedans, were in the initial crash at the Sierra Avenue intersection with the freeway, and later a car hit a tow truck that had been called to the scene, said CHP Officer Marcelo Llerena.

There were no injuries and lanes were reopened by 9:22 a.m.

“There were no injuries reported, which is rare for such a big crash,” he said.
