Driver cut out of vehicle in critical condition after Riverside crash

A driver was critically injured and had to be cut out of a sedan after he ran a red light and crashed into a truck in Riverside on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The man was rescued and taken to a local trauma center in critical condition after the 3:30 p.m. crash at Magnolia Avenue and Harrison Street, said Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Bruce Vanderhorst. Two others were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The brown sedan ran a red light traveling westbound on Magnolia, then T-boned a black truck that was turning left from eastbound Magnolia onto northbound Harrison on a green arrow, said Lt. Dan Warren of the Riverside Police Department.

“The brown car almost careened and hit another car, but stopped,” he said. “We don’t believe anybody was under the influence.”
