A motorcyclist died Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision on Gilman Springs Road near San Jacinto.
The motorcyclist, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin, was riding a 2005 Yamaha east on the road at a speed exceeding the posted 45-mile-per-hour speed limit about 2:34 p.m., according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol.
The rider was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway, and the motorcycle drifted across the double yellow line, into the westbound lanes, and collided head-on with a white 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, the news release stated.
The motorcycle rider was ejected onto the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Donald Boring, 58, of Yucaipa, and a passenger were not taken to a hospital.
Investigators have not ruled out alcohol or drugs as a contributing factor for the motorcycle rider in determining the cause of this collision, according to the news release.
