A man investigators say fled in his car after fatally hitting a 75-year-old woman who was crossing the street with her husband in Rowland Heights was identified Wednesday.
Scott Patrick Dooley, 46, of Rowland Heights, turned himself in Tuesday morning. He was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers from Santa Fe Springs and was booked into Pico Rivera sheriff’s station on suspicion of felony hit and run causing great bodily injury or death, and gross vehicular manslaughter, according to a CHP news release.

Dooley was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to online jail records.
CHP officials thanked members of the public with home surveillance systems who assisted and those who used social media to share information about being on the lookout for the suspect car.
Dooley was reportedly driving a silver 2009 Pontiac G6, with license plate No. 6FTM033, south on Saleroso Drive shortly after 7 p.m. Monday when investigators say the car struck the woman as she crossed the street with her husband in the 1800 block of Saleroso Drive, at Rio Bonito Drive, according to the news release.

The driver of the car did not stop, and according to the woman’s husband, accelerated after hitting his wife, the CHP reported. The woman was taken to a hospital where she died. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.
