The 10 Freeway was shut down in both directions in Fontana for more than an hour and a half on Wednesday afternoon, May 23, after a car struck a power pole, knocking down electrical lines across all lanes, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash, reported at 4:37 p.m., prompted these closures: the eastbound and westbound 10 at Cherry Avenue, the southbound 15 connector to the eastbound 10 and the northbound 15 connector to the eastbound 10.
Southbound lanes on Etiwanda Avenue were closed at Valley Boulevard, as were the northbound Valley lanes at Slover Avenue. Several on- and off-ramps were closed in the area as well.
The closures ended about 6:10 p.m., Caltrans said.
Motorists were advised to expect delays even though the lanes were open.
Two vehicles had been under the wires, but the occupants got out safely, the CHP website said.
