Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said 20-year-old Fabian Garcia Barajas was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. He said Barajas sustained multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy is pending.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives have not made an arrest in the fatal shooting.
El Monte police officers went to the 12300 block of Valley Boulevard after a caller reported a crash at 12:33 a.m. A bystander pointed out a car that crashed through the gate of a business. Officers discovered Barajas dead in the driver seat.

They did not find a gun. No one else was in the car.
