A Fallbrook man is in custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Sunday night, hitting a pedestrian with his vehicle in Rancho Cucamonga and fleeing from sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga station went to the area of Spruce Avenue and Foothill Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. for a reported hit-and-run involving a pedestrian, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release. The victim suffered a laceration to the forehead.
A witness gave deputies a description of the car and its direction of travel.
Deputies found the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver continued fleeing. The car swerved between traffic lanes with speeds of 45 miles per hour and ran red lights while fleeing from deputies.
The car eventually stopped at Foothill Boulevard and Vineyard Avenue.
Jesus Cirilo Rodriguez, 30, was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury, evading a peace officer and DUI causing injury, according to the news release. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
