5 dead after fiery crash that temporarily closed 10 Freeway in Rialto Friday

All lanes of the 10 Freeway – both eastbound and westbound — have been closed Friday at the Riverside Avenue offramp in Rialto after a semi-truck crashed into the center divider and caught fire, initial CHP reports show.

At least one person has died, according to initial CHP reports.

The crash was reported at 12:54 p.m. A Sig Alert at 1:02 p.m. announced the closure of eastbound lanes for eight to 10 hours; at 1:26 p.m., westbound lanes are set to closed for the next three hours.

By 1:48 p.m., westbound traffic was backed up at least 7 miles on both sides of the freeway.
