Two victims killed in a hit-and-run collision in Jurupa Valley on Saturday night were struck while walking across Market Street, according to new details released Monday night, Jan. 29, by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The car responsible still has not been located. The release described it as a dark-colored sedan that had been traveling north on Market approaching an intersection with a street that is called Via Cerro to the east and 24th Street to the west.
The collision happened at 8:26 p.m., and both fatally injured victims died at the scene. Their names have not been released but officials previously said they were an adult male and female.
The news release made no mention of a juvenile who also was hit. The juvenile was treated for minor injuries at a hospital, a sheriff’s spokesman said earlier Monday. Authorities haven’t said what if any relationship the three people had.
Sheriff’s officials asked anyone with additional information about the crash to call the Jurupa Valley station at 951-955-2600. Anonymous tips can be left with Crime Stoppers at 800-782-7463 or 800-473-7847, or submitted online at www.riversidesheriff.org/tipline or www.wetip.com.
