Car-to-car shooting in Pomona wounds alleged gang member, causes traffic crash

Pomona police are looking for a vehicle involved in a shooting that wounded someone in another vehicle and caused a car crash Sunday afternoon, Jan. 28.

The shooting and collision were reported at 2:18 p.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Garey Avenue, a busy commercial area in the city.

Officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds but conscious and breathing,  Pomona police said in a news release. The victim, who police said appeared to be a gang member, was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

Police said the traffic collision was a result of the shooting; no other details about the crash were released.

The vehicle that fled after the shooting took off on Foothill Boulevard; police didn’t know in which direction or have a description of it.
