An 83-year-old female pedestrian was killed Saturday, Jan. 6, in an apparent hit-and-run crash in Fontana, police said.

Vita Minjarez of Fontana was found on the north shoulder of Foothill Boulevard near Sultana Avenue by a motorist who reported it to police at 7:48 p.m., a Fontana police news release said. Minjarez was suffering from multiple broken bones and internal injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her injuries were consistent with those from someone who had been struck by a vehicle, a San Bernardino County coroner’s report said.

Police believe she was struck by a vehicle heading west on Foothill. The vehicle did not stop, the police news release said.

There is no suspect information on or video surveillance, the release said.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call Fontana police at 909-350-7700.
