Police continue to search for leads in the Ontario fatal hit-and-run death of an 85-year-old woman killed Tuesday night.
“We have no suspect or suspect car description at this time,” said Detective Melissa E. Ramirez in an email Thursday. “Thus far, we haven’t been able to find anyone who saw the collision. Our traffic investigators are in the process of looking for video, but at this point none were pointing towards the street, only parking lots.”
Authorities say the unidentified woman was crossing Holt Boulevard near Virginia Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle. The driver then sped off.
Video from the scene shows the woman’s walker sitting in the middle of the street with a large black purse balancing on top of the walker’s seat.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has not been able to locate the woman’s family members; police said they believe the woman lived in a nearby group home or rented a room from someone in the area.
Investigators are attempting to locate and interview witnesses. They asked anyone with information to call the Police Department at 909-986-6711 or Cpl. Jeff Mirtich at 909-395-2001, ext. 4587. Information may be reported anonymously to the WeTip hotline at 800-782-7463 or www.wetip.com.
