A three-vehicle, head-on traffic accident on Highway 395 south of Kramer Junction late Thursday night, Dec. 28, left one person dead, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred around 11:20 p.m. Thursday as a 2005 Toyota Corolla headed south on 395 crossed the solid yellow line and collided with a northbound 2017 Toyota Sienna being driven by a 28-year-old Chino man, a CHP news release stated. The Corolla also collided with a northbound 2013 Toyota Prius that was directly behind the Sienna.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 21-year-old La Mesa woman, died at the scene, authorities said.
People riding in the other vehicles suffered major to minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals, the release stated.
According to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office, the driver of the Corolla was attempting to pass a slower vehicle when the crash occurred. The coroner’s office did not immediately the woman, pending notification of relatives.
