The northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard at the center of Torrance were shut down Sunday evening following a crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist, police said.
Details of the crash were not immediately available.
The collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle occurred about 5:45 p.m. on Hawthorne Boulevard at Emerald Street, Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris said.
The male motorcyclist suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Police closed the northbound lanes of Hawthorne from Torrance Boulevard to Emerald and advised motorists to avoid the area.
