POMONA >> A woman was arrested after being accused of hitting and killing a 46-year-old man in a hit-and-run crash Monday in Pomona, police said.
Gabriela Preciado was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter, according to a Pomona police news release.
The incident occurred Monday night. Officers responded to the area of East Grand Avenue and Reservoir Street at 8:17 p.m. regarding a report of a man down in traffic lanes, lying east of the railroad tracks, according to police.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Christopher Coleman, of Pomona, dead.
Coleman was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by Preciado, the news release said. Police received a tip about 3 p.m. Tuesday regarding the description of the vehicle and the driver. The caller directed officers to the 4200 block of Phillips Boulevard in Pomona.
Officers found a blue Chrysler with significant front-end damage, the release said. Their investigation led them to Preciado and a nearby residence.
Preciado, according to the news release, told officers she was the driver and knowingly left the area after hitting a person. She was then taken into custody. Records show bail was set at $100,000 for Preciado, 28.
The crash is still being investigated by Pomona police, the release said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Pomona police at 909-620-2048 or 909-802-7741.
