A 46-year-old Pomona man is dead and Pomona police are searching for driver they say struck the man Monday night and fled the scene.
Just before 8:15 p.m., police dispatch received a call of a man lying in the middle of East Grand Avenue near the railroad tracks, according to a Pomona police press release.
Officers and Los Angeles County Fire personnel began to treat the man, who officials say was suffering from “major injuries,” but he died at the scene. He was later identified as Christopher Coleman.
Initial information from police indicate Coleman was hit by a vehicle; however, the driver did not remain at the scene.
The Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team in investigating the fatal crash. They ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Pomona Police Department’s Traffic Services Bureau at 909-620-2048 or 909-802-7741.
