A woman was killed and another person injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Jurupa Valley, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department officials.
Esmeralda Quintero, 19, of Moreno Valley, died at the scene, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.
The crash was reported around 9:15 p.m. on Market Street at Rubidoux Boulevard, according to a fire department press release.
“One patient was transported by ground ambulance with minor injuries,” the statement said. “The second patient perished at the scene.”
Quintero was traveling south on Rubidoux Boulevard when, for some reason, she drifted into oncoming traffic, slamming into a northbound vehicle, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Quintero was the only person in her vehicle and there were no passengers in the second vehicle, authorities said.
Jurupa Valley station investigators say alcohol or drug impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
