Corona police continue search for pair following crash that knocked out power to 2,000

Corona police are still searching for at least two people seen running from a roll-over crash that took out a power pole and left 2,000 homes and businesses without power early Sunday morning.

“Witnesses said at least three occupants ran from the car after the collision,” Corona Police Senior Detective Andy Bryant said in an email about the crash near the intersection of Smith Avenue and Via de Luna. “An adult female was later located in the area. She admitted to being a passenger in the car and requested medical attention.”

Authorities are still searching for the remaining two people, Bryant said.

The incident occurred at 4:11 a.m. Sunday, according to police and Southern California Edison officials.

Edison crews restored electricity to the majority of customers later that morning, but almost 600 were without power until Sunday night.

The investigation into the crash and subsequent hit-and-run is ongoing and police ask anyone with information to call the Corona Police Department at 951-736-2330.
