A vehicle driven by a sleepy driver went off the 10 Freeway near Archibald Avenue in Ontario and landed in the parking lot of a car dealership, striking at least two vehicles, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
There were no major injuries reported, according to a CHP Officer Jesus Garcia, although the unidentified driver was taken to the hospital after complaining of pain.
The driver, only identified as a man from Victorville, told officers at the scene he fell asleep as he drove home from work, Garcia said.
The man was in a Buick Park Avenue traveling east on the 10 Freeway near Archibald Avenue, when he fell asleep and struck the back of a vehicle traveling in the same direction, officials said.
The impact pushed the second vehicle, a 2002 Nissan Sentra, onto the shoulder, but the Buick continued down the embankment, through a fence and into the Mark Christopher Auto Center dealership. The Buick struck two new vehicles, according to Garcia.
The crash is under investigation. It wasn’t clear if anyone had been arrested, as of late Friday morning.
