A California Highway Patrol officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the patrol car he was in was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer Thursday in Rancho Cucamonga, CHP officials said.

Officer Jesus Garcia, spokesman for the department, said the unnamed officer — who worked out of the CHP’s Rancho Cucamonga station — was taken to a nearby hospital emergency room for an evaluation as a precaution.

The crash was reported at 10 a.m. at Milliken Avenue and Victoria Park Lane, according to CHP officials.

The driver of the big-rig wasn’t arrested, nor was he suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Garcia said the crash was under investigation.
