A pedestrian was killed when a vehicle struck him on the westbound 60 Freeway where it meets the 71 Freeway in Pomona, authorities said today.
The crash was reported at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, said California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi.
The pedestrian, described only as a male, died at the scene. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. It was unknown why he was walking on the freeway.
All lanes of the westbound 60 Freeway in the vicinity of the crash were blocked for the investigation, Polizzi said. Sometime after 1 a.m., the No. 4 lane was reopened and by 2:30 a.m., the rest of the lanes were opened as well.
