The victim of a hit-and-run crash, found just after 6 a.m. Sunday near San Jacinto, had been dead for about six hours and had been struck from the rear by a Chevrolet or GMC truck or SUV, according to an investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Vivian Thomas, 57, of Hemet, was found on the shoulder of Ramona Expressway just outside the San Jacinto city limits. She had been riding a bicycle in the eastbound expressway right lane just east of Alessandro Avenue during the overnight hours, according to a CHP news release.
The vehicle involved in the collision failed to stop at the scene and the driver has not contacted law enforcement.
The CHP asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the identity of the vehicle or any person in the vehicle is asked to contact the CHP San Gorgonio Pass office at 951-769-2000.
