A 48-year-old Hemet motorcyclist died at a hospital Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27, of injuries sustained when he tried to pass two vehicles that slowed and instead lost control on Warren Road, according to a Hemet police news release.

The rider in the 12:40 p.m. crash was identified as Jose Sanchez Jr. He died at 1:36 p.m. at Hemet Valley Medical Center, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s/Coroner news release.

He was traveling north on Warren Road on a 2003 Harley Davidson, about 1,100 feet north of Esplanade Avenue when one of two vehicles in front of him slowed to turn into a driveway.

Evidence collected by investigators  showed that the victim entered the oncoming, southbound lane to pass, lost control and the motorcycle began skidding toward the roadway edge before falling over on the dirt shoulder.

The drivers of the two vehicles the victim passed remained at the scene and spoke to investigators.

Warren Road between Esplanade and Cottonwood avenues was closed for about two hours while the crash was investigated.
