A Chino man died early Sunday morning in a chain-reaction motorcycle crash on the 60 Freeway on the border between Hacienda Heights and Industry, authorities said.
The collision took place just before 4:30 a.m. on the westbound 60 Freeway, just east of Crossroads Parkway, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The victim, whose identity was not available Sunday, was riding a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he struck a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck that was stopped in the fast lane with major damage following a prior two-vehicle crash, CHP Officer J. Knapke said in a written statement. The truck was unoccupied.
“The motorcycle and its rider slid across the lanes until they were struck by a (2008) Ford Crown Victoria sedan that was being driven in the westbound No. 3 lane,” Knapke said.
Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
His identity was not released by coroner’s officials pending notification of his family. CHP officials described him as a Chino resident.
The driver of a Crown Victoria, a Chino Hills man, suffered no injuries, officials said.
