The driver of a stolen vehicle crashed into a Claremont police unit during a short pursuit Saturday, police said in a statement. No one was hurt.
The driver, who was not identified, was arrested, police said.
Just before 1:30 p.m., the stolen gray Ford Explorer’s licence plate was read by a fixed licence plate reader in the area of Padua Avenue and Base Line, according to a police release.
Later in the afternoon, officers found the empty SUV about a mile north in the 900 block of Alamosa Drive, officials said. While officers were watching the Explorer, someone returned to the vehicle, got in and drove off.
The driver refused to stop and led officers on a short vehicle pursuit in the surrounding neighborhood, officials said.
“During the vehicle pursuit, the suspect collided into a (police) Detective Unit,” the statement said.
The driver lost control and crashed into the front yard of a home in the area of Grand Avenue and Yuba Lane, according to police. The driver was arrested.
