FONTANA >> A 19-year-old Fontana woman was killed and her passenger is in critical condition following an early morning rollover crash in Fontana on Tuesday, authorities said.
The woman was driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado on Bridlepath Drive just before 1 a.m. when she lost control while trying to make a southbound turn onto Cherry Avenue and struck the center median, according to a Fontana police statement.
The woman was identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office as Isabel Pineda-Magana.
The truck rolled, ejecting Pineda-Magana and her passenger, police said.
Pineda-Magana was brought to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she was declared dead at 1:35, a.m., according to the Coroner’s Office.
Her passenger was brought to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, Fontana police said.
Witnesses said the truck was speeding, police said.
The Fontana Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash and asks that anyone with information on the crash to call the Fontana Police Department Traffic Unit at 909-350-7700.
