HEMET >> A 44-year-old Ontario woman has been identified as the motorist killed in a Thursday traffic collision near Hemet-Ryan Airport, according to a Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner’s news release.
Adelina Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m. Thursday at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, hours after the 7:24 p.m. crash on westbound Stetson Avenue east of Walden Weaver Road in Hemet.
Rodriguez, driving a 2001 Geo Metro, was traveling east on Stetson at about 45 to 50 mph when two witnesses reported seeing the vehicle drift from left to right and at one point enter the oncoming westbound lane of traffic, according to a Hemet Police Department news release.
The driver continued east on Stetson and crossed into the oncoming lane again near the entrance to the airport, and collided with a westbound 2001 Toyota Camry, according the release.
The driver of the Geo Metro may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, the release stated.
The Toyota driver, who was not identified by name, also was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center, and is expected to make a full recovery.
