Rancho Cucamonga man killed in violent 210 Freeway crash

UPLAND >> A 44-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man died Friday evening after his vehicle crashed into a sign post and later a concrete median on the 210 Freeway in Upland, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The man was driving his 2001 Ford Ranger on the westbound lanes of the freeway east of Baseline Road about 6:12 p.m. at 60-70 mph when he suddenly veered across the right shoulder, onto an embankment and into the freeway sign, according to the a CHP news release.

The Ranger then traveled down the embankment, across westbound lanes and into the concrete center median, according to the release.

An off-duty first responder came to the scene and tried to help the man, who wasn’t breathing. He died from his injuries after being taken to Pomona Valley Medical Center.
