EL MONTE >> A woman found fatally shot in a car led to the closure of all lanes on the eastbound 10 Freeway at Peck Road early Tuesday morning. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death as a possible homicide.
Coroner’s officials have not identified the woman yet. However, the California Highway Patrol described her as a Latina in her mid 30s.

CHP Officer Siara Lund said a tow truck driver spotted the disabled car on the right shoulder of the 10 freeway around 4 a.m. The white Chevrolet Malibu had collided with a wall.
The tow truck driver stopped to offer help and saw a woman inside the car who was unresponsive, according to Lund. He called 911.

Firefighters responded to a call of someone with a gunshot wound on the freeway shortly after 4 a.m. Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Keith Mora said firefighters were on scene at 4:15 a.m. and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. She was sitting in the driver’s seat of the car.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 4:52 a.m. for all eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway at Peck Road. Three lanes reopened about six hours later.
All eastbound lanes were open by 1:30 p.m.
